In Pursuit of the Perfect Lake Huron Hoodie
Several years ago, I started taking my mom on mini road trips to the Lake. At that time my dad was very ill, and my mom was his primary caregiver. The stress of it all was wearing heavily on her. Week after week, we’d spend several hours on the shores of Lake Huron.
We’d sit and marvel at the Lake’s greatness. We’d feel free if only for a few hours each week.
I wanted to re-create that serene feeling I had while I was at the Lake. I thought a cozy Lake Huron hoodie was just the answer. However, it was nowhere to be found.
Sure, there were sweatshirts with all the Great Lakes on them. Or even shirts printed with the words Goderich, Bayfield, Kincardine, etc. But just like a fan wears their favourite team jersey with pride, I wanted to do the same for my beloved Lake Huron.
After several months of perusing stores, I gave up the pursuit of finding the perfect Lake Huron hoodie. Instead, I decided to make my own. I knew that I needed a clever name and a stunning logo, and voila! Here On Lake Huron was born.
The brand launched in August of 2020 with just eight pieces. The amount of support I received on that fateful day was overwhelming. Every time I heard my phone chime with a “cha-ching” I’d cry. Literally. I couldn’t believe so many people wanted to purchase their very own Lake Huron shirt or hoodie.
Five of the eight pieces from the original launch are still part of our core collection today. They are some of our best sellers, including the infamous Lake Huron hoodie.

We all know that Lake Huron is known for its breathtaking sunsets. This t-shirt is aptly named after I witnessed my very first Lake Huron sunset. The multiple shades of purple and orange created one of the most beautiful images I’ve ever seen. This tee is a nod to that moment. See more here.
